Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has criticized the Nigerian police, alleging that the force’s commissioner, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, is biased, following the state police command’s decision to pull out from the Independence Day celebration parade in the region.
Governor Yusuf, during his speech at the event on Wednesday, October 1, stated that the police command’s actions were an insult to the residents of Kano and violated the principles of national unity.

Governor of Kano issues communication to security organizations
In his speech, the governor urged security forces to remain dedicated to the cause of one Nigerian in Kano and every other state across the nation.
Daily Truststated that he urged the security agencies in the state to avoid taking sides, noting that this would not benefit the state or Nigeria as a whole, and he spoke from the perspective of being a Nigerian and the state’s head of security.
He also criticized the state police command for removing the force from the parade, calling the situation an “unethical and biased approach by the present Police Commissioner in Kano State.”
The leader expressed sorrow over the police commissioner’s and staff’s absence. He stated that the choice was intentional and a source of shame for the state on this particular day.
July 4th: Governor Yusuf expresses sorrow over the police’s lack of presence
Governor Yusuf stated that on the historic independence day in Nigeria, the commissioner withdrew from the parade along with his officers. He mentioned that only Bakori and his officers were aware of the reason behind this action. He added that he and the citizens of the state are dissatisfied with the police commissioner.
Yusuf stated that the residents of Kano stayed calm and have shown a strong desire to commemorate the nation’s independence day collectively. He also mentioned that the country is pleased to observe Independence Day.
Remember that the federal government led by President Bola Tinubu previously canceled the Independence Day parade, which was set for Wednesday, the same day.
In accordance with the instructions, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers also scrapped the Independence Day parade within the state, stating that this action aligned with the federal government’s directive.

The former leader of the NNPP also declared his switch to the APC in the northwest state on Tuesday, September 30.
Danfulani, during his remarks about defecting, stated that he and his followers were dissatisfied with the leadership of Rabiu Kwankwaso and the NNPP administration in the state.
