The national selection panel has selected an 18-player team for the two-Test series, which is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 against South Africa, starting on October 12.
The team will be reduced further prior to the beginning of the first Test, stated the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a press statement.
The PCB confirmed that Shan Masood will remain the team’s captain, with three players making their debut – Asif Afridi, Faisal Akram, and Rohail Nazir – also being selected.
The reigning ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 titleholders, South Africa, will face Pakistan in the opening Test match at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from October 12 to 16, with the second Test set to take place at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi from October 20 to 24.
The two-Test series will be followed by three T20 matches and an equal number of One-Day Internationals, taking place between October 28 and November 8. The team for the limited-overs series will be revealed soon.
The athletes participating in the pre-series camp will receive training led by red-ball coach Azhar Mahmood and NCA coaches later today through October 8. The players who took part in the recently finished ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup are set to join the team on October 4.
