NIPES Unveils 2025 Awardees

The National Institute of Professional Engineers and Scientists has announced the winners of the 2025 NIPES Awards, honoring outstanding achievements in engineering, science, innovation, and policy within communities around the world.

The 2025 version represents the initial phase of the yearly initiative, aimed at highlighting people and groups influencing the future of sustainable development, cutting-edge technology, and research focused on human needs around the world.

NIPES stated in a release on Tuesday that the recipients stood out not only due to their technical expertise and innovative thinking but also because of their capacity to create tangible results within various sectors, localities, and global research networks.

The awards this year received 1,203 nominations from across the globe. Every submission underwent a detailed four-step evaluation process that included preliminary checks for qualification and category appropriateness, peer nomination and assessment by senior fellows and international academics, technical assessment by expert panels from academia, business, and government, and lastly, approval by the NIPES Awards Committee together with the Office of the President.

In a statement, NIPES stated that this complex procedure demonstrates its dedication to fairness, merit, and quality. “This multi-tiered method reflects our commitment to acknowledging only the most suitable applicants, people who not only promote science and engineering but also show clear influence on society,” the institution mentioned.

Among those honored with the 2025 awards for Outstanding Contribution to Research and Innovation are Dr Olawale Makanjuola, Engr Solomon Ochuko Ologe, Mr Victor Ojo, Mrs Cynthia Onyekachi Victor-Oji, Mr Michael Chukwuka, Mr Mathew Olakunle Alaba, Mr Babatunde Ibrahim Keshinro, Ms Tolulope Sabainah Aremu, Ms Bosede Odunola Adejugbe, Ms Bolaji T. Josephine, Mr Isreal Ayobami Onifade, Ms Chioma Victoria Nwachukwu, Mr Eric Jhessim, Mr Damilola Akinola, Mr Stephen Tochi Nkwocha, Mr Festus Segun Ajiboye, and Mr Adeleye Mathew Ajao.

NIPES highlighted that every recipient has established a standard of excellence within their specific areas and has made substantial contributions to promoting innovation, policy structures, and sustainable methods. The organization mentioned that upcoming versions of the awards will broaden their scope to incorporate international alliances, collaborations between industry and academia, and categories focused on youth innovation, all designed to support the emerging generation of engineers and scientists.
