Ndoma-Egba Honors FUOYE Scholars in Global Top 2% Scientists

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, has commended four faculty members of the university who have been recognized among the top two percent of scientists globally by the Top Scientists Network (TopSciNet).

Ndoma-Egba, who acknowledged the applause in a statement, conveyed immense satisfaction with how FUOYE faculty and students are redefining excellence in research and innovation, bringing pride to the 14-year-old university through their remarkable achievements.

He mentioned that the achievements of the professors have boosted the institution’s reputation, and raised its status both within the country and globally.

Acknowledging that FUOYE, a well-regarded emerging university, has emerged as one of the fastest expanding institutions in the nation, the legal expert stated that the Governing Council will keep collaborating with the management to efficiently handle the rapid expansion of the university and secure its long-term viability.

The Pro-Chancellor of FUOYE and former Senate Leader remarked: “I am thrilled, deeply honored, and delighted. I congratulate the four FUOYE academics who have been included in the 2025 list of the world’s top 2% scientists. FUOYE is definitely moving towards national and, without a doubt, global acclaim. We will remain focused on our goals, aiming for even greater achievements, while disregarding the fabricated distractions promoted by those spreading false information within the university.”

The Acting Vice Chancellor (VC) of FUOYE, Prof. Olubunmi Shittu, was said to have also praised the FUOYE scholars, highlighting that their international acclaim underscores the university’s commitment to promoting a culture of meaningful research and innovation.

Professor Shittu was reported to have stated: “Their accomplishments not only enhance the worldwide recognition of our university but also motivate emerging scholars throughout Nigeria.”

As per the report published by FUOYE on its official website, the university’s faculty members who have been included in the 2025 list of the world’s top 2% scientists are Prof. Olayide Samuel Lawal, Dr. Adeolu Adesoji Adediran, Prof. Bukola Olalekan Bolaji, and Prof. Basiru Olaitan Ajiboye.

The report stated that “The annual ranking recognizes scientists whose research influence, citations, and output position them among the top 2% worldwide in their specific disciplines. This year’s list showcases the increasing impact of Nigerian researchers on the global academic scene.”

The TopSciNet ranking, which is updated each year, assesses millions of researchers globally across various fields, taking into account citations, h-index, and other standard measures. FUOYE’s presence highlights the university’s growing reputation as a center for advanced research in West Africa.
