Alhaji Amadu Danfulani, the head of the Kwankwasiyya Movement in Gobirawa Ward within Dala local government area of Kano, has declared his exit from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and has now become a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Commenting on his decision to defect, Danfulani stated he was dissatisfied with the Kwankwasiyya Political Movement and its national leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who served as the 2023 presidential candidate for the NNPP.

According toThe Nation, the NNPP leader stated that he and thousands of his followers were dissatisfied with what he described as the anti-people policies and initiatives of the NNPP administration in Kano.
The departure of the previous Kwankwasiyya leader took place at the APC’s headquarters on Hotoro-Maiduguri Road in Kano on Tuesday, September 30.
At the gathering, Abdullahi Abbas, head of the APC, was represented by Alhaji Shehu Aliyu Ungoggo, the party’s Zonal Chairman for Kano Central, and Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, the Managing Director of the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA). They extended a warm welcome to Danfulani and other newcomers who joined the APC.
Other APC leaders who were at the event to greet the defectors included Alhaji Labaran Kura, the Kano State APC Youth Leader, also serving as the Northwest Zonal Youth Leader; the APC chairman in the Dala LGA, and the Ward APC chairman in Gobirawa.

Abbas stated that the party’s membership is open, and new individuals are encouraged to join from any opposition parties in the nation, provided they adhere to the party’s procedures, rules, and regulations.
He argued that even Kwankwaso, who previously served as a governor in the state, is free to become a member of the APC provided he follows the party’s principles and constitution.
The Kwankwasiyya Movement serves as the political backing for Rabiu Kwankwaso, the contender in the 2023 presidential race. The group issued a powerful declaration during the 2023 election, yet has experienced the departure of several important members since then.
On the other hand, Kwankwaso is reportedly considering joining the APC and has participated in various public and private discussions with President Bola Tinubu in Nigeria and abroad.
