Google marked Nigeria’s 65th Anniversary of Independence on October 1, 2025, by featuring a unique doodle on its website.

The artwork incorporated Nigeria’s green-white-green flag colors and included an eagle. Upon clicking, the doodle displayed important facts and significant events in Nigeria’s history.

During his Independence Day address, President Bola Tinubu expressed confidence in the recovery of Nigeria’s economy. He highlighted that the nation’s GDP increased by 4.23% in the second quarter — the highest in four years. Inflation has decreased to 20.12%, foreign reserves are increasing, and oil output has improved.

Tinubu further stated that the government has distributed ₦330 billion to eight million impoverished families via its social investment initiative. He pledged additional efforts in improving roads, electricity, and other infrastructure.

The leader called on Nigerians to maintain harmony, show mutual respect, and collaborate, stating that disagreements are natural but must not hinder development.
