The leader of Edo State, Mr. Monday Okpebholo, has urged Nigerians to emphasize solidarity and collaboration in order to realize the goals of independence.
He issued the statement on Wednesday, during a speech he gave to celebrate the country’s 65th Independence Day.
He pointed out that each October 1 serves as a reminder to Nigerians “of the sacrifices made by our founding fathers, who bravely and wisely fought to secure us a free country,” and mentioned that it is a day filled with pride, contemplation, and, most importantly, renewed optimism.
“Independence is not solely about being free from external control. It requires solidarity and collaboration to fully utilize the opportunities that freedom brings. We should constantly remind ourselves that we can accomplish more when we unite as Edo people,” Okpebholo stated.
Speaking to the young people and children, the Governor, who referred to them as the lifeblood of this State, urged them not to succumb to hopelessness.
Don’t succumb to hopelessness. Your vitality and abilities are crucial for our future, and this administration will keep supporting you.
“My message today is straightforward: A New Edo Has Risen. A New Nigeria Has Risen. United, with bravery and commitment, there is nothing that can hinder us,” he concluded.
